I figured since I have a lot of rebuilding to do with my bike, it would be good to keep the videos I have found that helped me out, all in one place - and that is here!

Take apart and repair the pedals

The next thing for me to do is take apart the pedals and try to save them. Found these two videos from YouTube user CJ Hoyle very useful.

Install a new rear cassette

A really helpful video from Youtube user ONE10Sports helped me get the correct number of gears onto my back wheel. 

Replacing your chain

Another great video from youtube user ONE10Sports and was a great help in making sure I got the drive train working correctly.

Adjusting the gears on the back 

This can be a fiddly process - and until my Dad explained it too me years ago I was convinced there must be some black magic element in getting bike gears to shift correctly. This video from Youtube user PerformanceBikes does an excellent job of explaining the principals and how the rear derailleur actually works.

Adjusting the gears on the front 

This is another fiddly process! This video simplifies the process. This one from SFMTNS on Youtube.

Replacing cables 

This is a good video from Evans Cycles - they have lots of great and helpful videos on their Youtube page that takes you through the process of replacing the cables on a bike.

Its a very important area of maintenance on a bike that often gets overlooked (by me anyway) - but as I found out on my first test ride, snapping a break cable is a serious problem!
